  • The Wine Institute... is a partner in the BIE grant which sponsors the SFSU Family Winery Forum. The WINE INSTITUTE web site has an outstanding collection of export information and resources. The WINE INSTITUTE is the public policy advocacy association of California wineries. It brings together the resources of 915 wineries and affiliated businesses to support legislative and regulatory advocacy, international market development, media relations, scientific research, and education programs that benefit the entire California wine industry.

  • Wine Institute's California International Program ... In the early 1980s the Wine Institute championed passage of the Wine Equity and Expansion Act (WEA), which was passed by the U.S. Congress in 1985, marking the official U.S. government recognition of the significant trade barriers faced by U.S. wine producers in foreign markets throughout the world and confidence that American wines could contribute to the overall growth of U.S. exports.

  • Trade Information Center... is a comprehensive resource for information on all U.S. Federal Government export assistance programs. The Center is operated by the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce for the 20 federal agencies comprising the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee (TPCC). These agencies are responsible for managing the U.S. Government's export promotion programs and activities.

  • International Trade Administration (US Department of Commerce)... aims to create prosperity by strengthening the competitiveness of U.S. industry, promoting trade and investment, and ensuring fair trade and compliance with trade laws and agreements.

  • California Agricultural Export Program... is the California Department of Food & Agriculture's program dedicated to providing California exporters with timely, accurate and reliable information. For questions regarding export certificates, trade shows, agricultural statistics, market research, foreign country import requirements, or other general exporting questions, the program is ready to assist California’s agricultural industry.

  • USDA Foreign Agriculture Service... works to improve foreign market access for U.S. products, build new markets, improve the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provide food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries.

  • Export Programs Guide... is the U.S. government’s most comprehensive and widely distributed export resource, a listing of all federal government programs that aid U.S. companies in exporting their goods and services around the world.

  • Basic Guide to Exporting... has been prepared by the U.S. Department of Commerce with the assistance of Unz & Co., Inc.

  • Commercial News USA... is the official United States Department of Commerce showcase for American-made products and services.

  • US Dept of Agriculture... enhances the quality of life for the American people by supporting production of agriculture. The USDA supports rural development, food safety, nutrition and research for agricultural technology. The agency is also in charge of national forest and rangelands and works to reduce hunger in the US and internationally.


  • Agriculture Issues Center... is a University of California program committed to providing broadly-based and objective information about California agriculture issues and their significance for California's economy and natural resources. For 15 years, the Center has served as a forum where important and often controversial trends and issues involving California agriculture---ranging from water transfers to international trade---have been identified, studied and debated. The Center makes its findings available to policymakers, to government agencies, to interest groups and to individuals through a continuing series of conferences, workshops, in-depth and popular publications, videos and its website.

  • USDA Emerging Markets Program ... is a market access program that provides funding for technical assistance activities intended to promote exports of U.S. agricultural commodities and products to emerging markets in all geographic regions, consistent with U.S. foreign policy..

  • Bioterrorism Act of 2002... The events of Sept. 11, 2001, reinforced the need to enhance the security of the United States. Congress responded by passing the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002 (the Bioterrorism Act), which President Bush signed into law June 12, 2002.

  • US Wine Export Data... (by year - provided by the Wine Institute).

  • US & EU Sign Bilateral Agreement of Winemaking Practices (March 10, 2006)... provides for mutual acceptance of existing wine-making practices and addresses a number of labeling issues, helping to create marketing certainty for U.S. and EU wine exporters.
