  • The Wine Institute... is a partner in the BIE grant which sponsors the SFSU Family Winery Forum. The WINE INSTITUTE is the public policy advocacy association of California wineries. It brings together the resources of 915 wineries and affiliated businesses to support legislative and regulatory advocacy, international market development, media relations, scientific research, and education programs that benefit the entire California wine industry.

  • Federal Trade Commission... aims to maintain a competitive marketplace for both consumers and businesses by preventing unfair methods of competition in commerce.

  • US Patent & Trademark Office... promotes the progress of science and the useful arts by securing for limited times to inventors the exclusive right to their respective discoveries.

  • US Technology Administration... Technology Administration (TA), the only Federal agency working to maximize technology's contribution to America's economic growth.

  • UC-Davis Extension Courses in Winemaking ...for over 25 years UC-Davis has offered a world-class winemaking education.

  • Wine Law... this site, now housed and managed by the WINE INSTITUTE, has extensive information on common federal regulations that wineries deal with.

  • TTB Ruling on Caloris & Carbohydrate Labeling... this ruling deals with concerns regarding low-cal and low-carb claims in wines and related products.

  • TTB: Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau... collects alcohol, tobacco, firearms and ammunition excise taxes, to ensure that these products are labeled, advertised and marketed in accordance with the law, and to administer the laws and regulations in a manner that protects the consumer and the revenue, and promotes voluntary compliance.

  • American Farm Bureau... is an independent, non-governmental, voluntary organization governed by and representing farm and ranch families united for the purpose of analyzing their problems and formulating action to achieve educational improvement, economic opportunity and social advancement and, thereby, to promote the national well-being.

  • California Department of Food and Agriculture... is organized into six divisions, and operates at more than 100 locations throughout the state. These divisions provide valuable services to producers, merchants and the public. Plant Health & Pest Prevention.

  • California Agriculture Statistics... the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) conducts hundreds of surveys every year and prepares reports covering virtually every aspect of U.S. agriculture-production and supplies of food and fiber, prices paid and received by farmers, farm labor and wages, farm finances, chemical use, and changes in the demographics of U.S. producers are only a few examples.

  • California Agriculture Technology Institute... members conduct agricultural and agribusiness research under four centers specializing in 1) agribusiness, 2) food science and nutrition, 3) irrigation, and 4) viticulture and enology.

  • California Farmers Union... is the 24th state chapter of the National Farmers Union, which is a general farm organization representing nearly 300,000 family farmers and ranchers nationwide. Farmers Union serves its membership by presenting the organization's policies to lawmkers at the local, state and national level.

  • USDA National Organic Program... national program to investigate, promote, and oversee the use and labeling of organic products.

  • USDA Foreign Agriculture Service... works to improve foreign market access for U.S. products, build new markets, improve the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provide food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries.

  • Coalition for Free Trade... is a non-profit legal foundation whose goal is to legalize direct-to-consumer shipments of wine from out-of-state wineries and retailers in those states where it is currently prohibited.

  • ANR: Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources... is a statewide network of Univ of California researchers and educators dedicated to the creation, development and application of knowledge in agricultural, natural and human resources.

  • CCOF: California Certified Organic Farmers... promotes and supports organic food and agriculture through a premier organic certification program, trade support, producer and consumer education and political advocacy.

  • DPR: Calif Dept of Pesticide Regulation... protects human health and the environment by regulating pesticide sales and use and fostering reduced-risk pest management. DPR’s strict oversight includes product evaluation and registration, environmental monitoring, residue testing of fresh produce, and local use enforcement through the county agricultural commissioners.

  • USDA Agrigultural Marketig Service... employs specialists who provide standardization, grading and market news services for those commodities. They enforce such Federal Laws as the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act and the Federal Seed Act.

  • United Agribusiness League... is a member organization committed to unite agribusiness by providing members with economic solutions, benefits, and services both domestically and internationally.

  • California Women for Agriculture... is committed to help its members develop the knowledge and skills necessary to convey the mutual benefits of a vibrant agricultural economy and healthy rural communities to those who are in positions to impact the future of agriculture in California.
